TESTIMONIES VALIDATE THE GOSPEL

Nothing validates the gospel like Testimonies/Witnessing.1 John 1:1-3 puts it this way:

1. “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched- this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

2. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

3. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”

Let’s look at the ‘Great Commission’ verses:

Matt 28:19 (Disciple the nations)

Mk 16:15 (Evangelize) Preach the gospel everywhere.

Lk 24 :44-49(Teach)

Jn. 20-21 (Send) There is a sending command to all children of God to go. Every church must ‘Go…’

Acts 1:8(Strategize). Every church should identify a strategy to reach their Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, Uttermost part of the earth.

 

MEANS: THE HOW?  Jesus taught us how in Luke 10:1-24

 

Q: What Means Should We Adopt For The Conversion Of Unbelievers? (Ref: Book by William Carey (An enquiry into the means,,,")

 

MINISTRY Pattern OF JESUS 

1. Synagogue (Interface with the Old Jewish people)
2. The Temple (interface with the religious people of Judaism)
3. Sending out teams. Luke 10; Matt.10

 

MINISTRY PATTERN OF THE EARLY CHURCH (BOOK OF ACTS)

1. Local churches. Acts 2:1-4,42-47.
2. Apostolic teams (That were sent out from the churches) Acts 13:1-3
3. Acts 16:1-3. Paul enlisted a Greek boy, Timothy and circumcised him for cultural compliance.

The Hope of Eternal Life - Pastor Tokunbo Beulah Johnson

Last week we examined one of the two Concepts that will make our message credible: The Sin Problem/CHRIST THE CURE and The Hope Of Eternal Life.

 These two Concepts always took centre stage whenever the true Gospel Message was truly preached.

Call To Action: Repentance is the ONLY Cure from Sin. Acts 3:19.

1. Hope Of Eternal Life. This life is in Christ Jesus. 1Jn.5:1-13; Jn.17:1-3.

Eternal life simply means there shall be no break in consciousness even when you close your eyes in death. A NEVER DYING LIFE. MAN SHALL LIVE FOREVER!

The Glorification of our body into ‘spirit-body’ is coming after life’s physical journey. Col.3:3,4. We will appear with Him in glory!

• This will occur either when we transition by physical death or when Christ Appears in glory! The Blessed Hope. The glorious appearing of Christ. Titus 2:13

The MANDATE OF THE CHURCH remains Matt. 28:19,20.

Matt 28:19,20.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."    

• Our job as the Church remains to teach all nations and people-groups to humble themselves to receive Christ as God’s Perfect Salvation Plan and to Ask Him into their life.

Two Concepts that will make our message credible: The Sin Problem and The Hope Of Eternal Life. These two Concepts always took centre stage whenever the true Gospel Message was truly preached.

1. THE SIN PROBLEM & CHRIST CURE: Rom.7:4-25; Rom. 8:1-3, Rom.9:29-31,32.

• Sin is empowered by the Laws and Rules.
• It is impossible for even the best of humans to keep the Laws of God. If he is faultless on the outside, he will be vile in his mind and heart.

When we pursue righteousness in our effort we will fail but ONLY in Christ can humans be saved. Rom.9:31,32.

Love (Of God for all mankind),

Grace (Unmerited Favour Through Christ’s Death),

Faith (How we receive the Grace)

Hope (That we have a destiny secured in Christ).

3. Listen for the problems sinners are grappling with in their quest for God.

How to Convert Men of Influence

1. Our Mandate is Going to the ‘Ethnos’!

• To preach the gospel at every opportunity with conversion as a goal (Acts 17:34) even if not everyone will believe the message.

           Go somewhere else but all the same preach the Gospel everywhere you go! (Luke 10u:10).

       2. Our Message: That the Kingdom of God is approaching!

       3. Our Methods:

1. By Demonstration of God’s Power: “Heal the Sick”,
2. By Proclamation (Word of Mouth): “Tell them, the kingdom of God is near you”.

 Apostle Paul used both methods effectively and so should we.
